Elliott
Olp shares his father’s
love for motor sports
GREENLEAF — Imagine
being 9 years old and
asking your dad if you
can take the car for a
spin.
And he says “sure.”
That’s how it is for
Elliott Olp these days.
The fourth-grader who
attends St. John Ev.
Lutheran School in
Wrightstown turns into a
race car driver in the
summer. He races in the
Briggs & Stratton Junior
1 Division at Meadowview
Kartway, about halfway
between Hilbert and
Chilton.
When he was 6,
Elliott got started by
driving a yard cart. “I
liked the speed and
sliding around in the
yard,” Elliott said.
Last year, he started
practicing at Meadowview
and then raced in the
final six races of the
season and learned one
big lesson.
“Try not to cause any
crashes,” Elliott said.
“Just be careful.”
This year, he is
racing the entire season
on the one-fifth mile
dirt oval.
